Alice E. Nelson (Collins)

Alice Elizabeth (Collins) Nelson passed away peacefully in her sleep at her home of 61 years, on December 11, 2024, at the age of 90. 

Alice was born on the family farm in Belle River, MN to Thomas and Elizabeth (Clark) Collins. Alice moved with her family when she was three years old to Alexandria, MN. While in high school she met Roger Allen Nelson Sr. and united in marriage in Northwood, Iowa on October 20, 1951. As a family, they lived in St. Paul, Roseville, and Circle Pines, MN.

Survived by five children, Sharon (Dennis) Callahan, Roger Jr. “Butch,” Sandra (Austin) Stanford, Shelley (Donald Jr.) Peterman, Sheila Nelson; seven grandchildren, Benjamin (Kassia) Callahan, Catherine (Daniel) Hersey, Michelle (Benjamin) Rutka, Donald Peterman III, Michael Pederson Jr. (Emily Kassulker), Amanda (Raymond) Lundholm, Michael Nelson; and six great grandchildren, William and Lucas Callahan, Nolan and Madeline Hersey, Knox and Callahan Rutka. 

Predeceased by husband Roger Allen Nelson Sr. (April 15, 2000); brothers and sisters-in-law, Clyde (Mertyce) Collins, Miles (Joyce) Collins; sister Phyllis Collins; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Evangeline (John Jr.) Ekdahl, Eunice (James LeRoy Jr.) Lesmeister, JoAnne (Lauren) Marxen. 

Alice is known for her cheerful personality, her gift of gab, she was always smiling, and her joy in dancing. She was a ray of sunshine and so full of life. 

She will be missed by her dear friend Tony Grygelko Sr.

Memorial service 12 Noon Friday, January 31 at ST. MARK LUTHERAN CHURCH, 1 North Rd., Circle Pines. Visitation at the church from 11 AM – 12 Noon Friday. Private interment Twitchell Cemetery.
