Age 89, formerly of Circle Pines. Passed away peacefully on April 2, 2023.
She is survived by her children, Angela Hensley, Sharon Dahl, Brian Hanson, Darla (Brock) Cunio; grandchildren. Sara (David) Gunderson, Alexis Hollander, Carina and Theodore (Teddy) Cunio; great-grandchildren, Annika, Emeline and David Gunderson; brothers-in-law, Fred Cush and David Schwarm, Walter (Deanna) Hanson, John (Pauline) Hensley; also many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband Eugene “Bud” Hanson, Buck; parents, Richard and Mary Ferren; sisters, Jacquline Farren, Barb Cush and Catherine Schwarm.
Carol was born November 24, 1933 in North Industry, Ohio where she attended Canton South High School and worked at the malt shop in town. She went on to Johnson Bible College in Kimberlin Heights, TN where she met her 1st husband Wayne Hensley. Upon graduation they served a church in Elliotsville, IN for several years. In 1966 they moved to MN.
In 1976 she married Eugene “Bud” Hanson. They raised their family and ran the Dairy Queen in Circle Pines/Lexington and Bud’s Café. Carol worked for the Soo Line Railroad in Minneapolis for 40 years and made lifelong friendships there. Upon retirement Carol and Gene traveled MN, WI and made multiple trips to Branson MS for their love of country music. She spent her free time feeding her birds, deer, tending to her flowers, watching the Minnesota Twins play and her almost daily shopping at Target or Cub.
The family would like to thank Dr. Uzma Ali of Minnesota Oncology for all of her care over the past 12 years, the staff of Ecumen North Branch who cared for Carol and Gene for the past years and Ecumen Hospice for their support.
Funeral Service will be at 11 AM Friday, April 14 at Mueller-Bies Funeral Home – Lino Lakes, 7050 Lake Drive (County Hwy 23). Visitation at the funeral home from 10-11 am Friday. Interment St. Joseph’s Church Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers memorials are preferred to Angel Foundation.
