Caroline "Terry" McCann

Caroline "Terry" Joanne McCann, of Roseville, passed away on August 20, 2024 at the age of 92. 

She was born April 24, 1932 in Litchfield, MN and was the youngest in her family, having four brothers and three sisters. Her childhood was spent on the family farm, moving into town after the death of her father when she was 13. She graduated (the highest ranking girl in her class) from Litchfield High School in 1950 and went to Macalester College. She worked at the Degree of Honor and lived in a boarding house on Grand Avenue. There she was introduced to Chuck McCann by Mrs. Smith, and the rest is history. They were engaged January 18 and married March 7, 1953. Their marriage of almost 70 years produced four children: Lynn, Sandy, Jack and Jim, as well as 13 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. 

Terry saw Chuck through a stint in the Army and several painting companies, together becoming one of the largest commercial painting contracting businesses in Minnesota. Terry held positions in the women's Minnesota chapter of PDCA. After selling their company, they began to develop and renovate office buildings under their business Update Company, which is now the family business. 

Terry and Chuck entertained family and friends at their northern Wisconsin lake home. Terry was happily involved in Ladies of the Lake, the Red Hat Club, Book club, and was the first reigning Queen in the annual Dump Daze festivities that lasted 20 years. She loved her family dearly, and loved participating in Mai Tai parties, campfire sing-a-longs, and fundraisers and enjoyed a good vodka gimlet. 

Terry is preceded in death by her husband, Chuck; parents, Henry and Emma; her brothers, Emil (Ruby), Ed (Luella), Leo (Flossie) and Julius (Ruth); her sisters, Alina (Bob), Bertha (Vernon) and Erna (Grant). 

She is survived by her children, Lynn (Jack), Sandy (Alex), Jack (Connie) and Jim (Amy); 13 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by brother-in law, Dan (Betty Jo) and sisters-in-law, Josephine and Mary Kaye; and many nephews and nieces. 

Memorial service at 11 AM Wednesday, September 11 at Mueller-Bies Funeral Home - Roseville, 2130 N. Dale St. at County Road B. Visitation from 10-11 AM.
