Devoted Wife and Mother
Carolyn is survived by her husband of 42 years, Richard Eldon Nordstrom of Gem Lake; her three daughters, Jaime (Oluwole) Awoyinka, Jenee Nordstrom (special friend Erik Andersen), and Jessica (Daniel) Imholte; her three grandsons, Fox, Sawyer, and Adewale; four brothers, Tom, James, John and Paul; and six sisters, Karen, Sharon, Theresa, Mary, Jeanne, and Linda.
Born in Miller, South Dakota to Raymond and Anita Thompson, Carolyn grew up in St. Paul and eventually moved to Gem Lake with her husband, where she raised her family. She worked at Regions Hospital for over 27 years as a Medical Technician in various labs. She loved cooking, gardening, and being with family. She was a passionate Christian, attending and volunteering at Eagle Brook Church in Lino Lakes.
In Spring 2015, Carolyn was clinically diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease, which eventually led to her early death at the age of 67. Carolyn will be remembered for her unconditional love for her family, cheery disposition, and ability to host amazing dinner parties.
Memorial service on Tuesday, June 19 at 11:00 AM at Eagle Brook Church (White Bear Campus), 2401 Buffalo Street, White Bear Lake. Visitation from 4-7 PM Monday 6/18 at Mueller-Bies Funeral Home (Roseville), 2130 N Dale Street at County Road B, and at the church from 10-11 AM Tuesday 6/19.
Carolyn’s family would like to thank the loving staff at Cardigan Ridge for the unending support and care they provided Carolyn during her last days, as well as the incredible staff with Brighton Hospice.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
