Carroll E. "Pete" Peter

Age 91, of Roseville, passed away on March 1, 2021.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and his youngest daughter, Sarah.
Pete was born in Elmore, MN to Herman and Emma Peter on December 30, 1929. The youngest of three children, he graduated from Elmore High School. He completed his degree in Elementary Education at the University of Minnesota where he later earned both Masters and PhD degrees. Pete began teaching at Concordia College in St. Paul in 1955. It was there that he met and married the love of his life, Helen, in 1957. Married for 63 years they raised five children at their home in Roseville.
Pete and Helen were charter members of King of Kings Lutheran where he served faithfully on many boards. He retired from Concordia after 40 years of service and he and Helen spent the next twenty years traveling the world. A lifelong learner, he enjoyed the planning of the trips almost as much as the trips themselves. After retirement Pete was the unofficial communication director of the college’s Emeriti Professor group. In 2019 his efforts in this role were recognized with the awarding of an Honorary Doctor of Letters. His twenty years of weekly emails to both the retired faculty and to his family are legendary. He will also be remembered for his love of lists, and his collection of slides, matchbooks, and thermometers.
He is survived by his loving wife, Helen; daughters Kathy (David) Jones and Beth; and sons, David (Ann) Peter and John; grandchildren, Jessica (Aaron) Burnstein, Jacob Jones, Becky (Jake) Stolee, Emily, Gretchen, Amanda, Nicholas, Raelynn and Thomas Peter; and great grandchildren, Wesley, Emmett and Elouise; and his sister-in-law, Elaine Peter.
