Charles (Chuck, Chas, Grampa Chuck), born 9/5/48, passed away 8/30/21 peacefully at home surrounded by family after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. Chuck is survived by his wife of 42 years, the love of his life and best friend, Mary (LaFond); daughters, Sara (Matt) Smude, Laura (Casey) Wangen; grandchildren, Sam, Jack, Sophia Smude, Corbin, Mila Wangen; siblings, Harold, Jr. (Peggy), Robert, Mary Lou Belou as well as many extended family and friends. Preceded in death by his parents, Harold, Sr. and Edith Medved. Chuck grew up in Highland Park, graduated from Cretin H.S. 1966. Economics graduate from the University of Minnesota. After working for Electric Machinery and Paper Calmenson, Chuck founded Medved Products Inc., selling and designing medical accessories. He was a founding member of Rogue Partners Thoroughbreds, and MVSA. He coached skills & life lessons to 100’s of fastpitch players at every level for more than 15 years and considered development of Rice Creek Fields a defining achievement. Chuck loved golf – a member & past President of Majestic Oaks Mens’ Club and infamous 1050 group. He loved winters in AZ, playing golf (shooting his age), forming lasting friendships, and enjoying his summers in MN with family. The family would like to express gratitude for the wonderful help and care given by the many angels of Allina Health Hospice and his oncology care team. Mass of Christian Burial 10:30 AM Saturday, Sept. 4 at ST. JOSEPH OF THE LAKES CATHOLIC CHURCH, 171 Elm St., Lino Lakes. Visitation 4-7 PM Friday at MUELLER-BIES FUNERAL HOME-LINO LAKES, 7050 Lake Dr. (Cty Hwy 23), and at the church on Saturday from 9:30 – 10:30 AM.Private interment Ft. Snelling National Cemetery.
