Christina Lynn Minter

Christina Lynn Minter, 40, of Woodbury, MN died peacefully on January 3, 2019, after her long and courageous battle with breast cancer. Born December 6, 1978 in Fridley, MN, daughter of Ann & Bob Minter, sister of David Minter. She is preceded in death by grandfathers Robert Minter & Theodore Geier, and Uncle Jim Coda. Survived by parents, a brother, and grandmothers Irene Minter and Lucille Geier; and she leaves behind a community of extended family and friends whose lives she touched dearly. Christina had many talents and joys but dance stood at the forefront, with her adventures beginning as a young girl during hip hop classes at Metro Dance Studio. Later, at Centennial (Circle Pines) High School, she joined the Kick Line among other activities and created a vast circle of lifelong friends. Her professional life in sales began on the street corner with her childhood friends Mandy, April, and Cassie, selling flowers to passersby. She was driven and committed and left her mark first as a telemarketer for Fingerhut, then as a glamour associate for Cache, a customer service manager for Deluxe, where she devoted 17 years of service, and finally as a customer care manager at US Bank where her team was in the top 1% of the country. When she left US Bank, she was #2 in the entire country. It was during her years at Deluxe when her battle with breast cancer began, and she and many others spoke often about the magnificent benefit her colleagues at Deluxe held for her at Jimmy’s in Vadnais Heights. Alongside her professional career, her devotion to dance flourished. Having discovered her love of salsa and bachata after a friend took her to First Ave Night Club for “Latin Night”, she embarked on a journey full of adventures too vast to mention. Always a dreamer, she had high hopes of putting her hometown on the map and as she often said, “I want to bring street and studio dancers together.” Her first bout with cancer in 2014 halted her plans, but during her recovery she came back with a vengeance. By 2016 she had helped set in motion the realization of her dreams. She spearheaded the launch of Minneapolis’s first international bachata team, Alex AnD Desiree World Wide, which did indeed bring the street and studio together. And with this momentum came the birth of Minnechata, the first ever annual Minneapolis Bachata Festival. Christina breathed new life into the Minneapolis dance scene, as she did with most things she touched, inspiring others to reach towards new heights. Friend after friend recounts how she supported them through difficult times, inspired gym mates to stick with their goals, encouraged co-workers to take a risk, or how she quite literally pushed someone over the infamous bridge of faith. Always there to support and encourage. The world has lost a daughter, sister, cousin, granddaughter, friend, dance partner, and soul mate.
