Dr. Christopher Paul Ceman

August 1, 1946 — September 6, 2020

On Sunday, September 6, 2020, Christopher Paul Ceman, loving husband and father, passed away at the age of 74. Christopher was born on August 1, 1946 in Champaign, IL to Paul and Elaine Ceman. After living and attending school in various states throughout the US while his father flew bombers for the USAF Strategic Air Command, Christopher graduated in 1965 from Moses Lake High School in Moses Lake, Washington. He matriculated at the University of Minnesota and received his Medical Doctorate in 1972. Christopher was married three times and blessed with six sons. He married his first wife Connie in 1968 and had his first son Sean Gustafson (nee Ceman). He then married his second wife Rosemary in 1972 and had two more sons, Damien Ceman and Gabriel Ceman. His third marriage was to the love of his life Joanne Niemczyk on September 28, 1986. Together they were blessed with three more sons, Anthony, Zachary and Christopher Jr. Dr. Ceman and his wife Joanne, an LPN. established a Family Health Medical Clinic in Forest Lake where he practiced for many years before pulling up roots in Minnesota and moving Joanne and his three sons to Phillipsburg, Kansas in 2001. While Tony, Zach and Chris attended schools in Phillipsburg and then all graduated from the University of Kansas, Christopher continued to practice Family and Addiction Medicine in and around Phillipsburg until his death.Christopher was a special person and one of a kind. Doc Ceman was strong in his beliefs and always spoke his mind. He never shied away from sharing a story. He loved his family and always managed to have time to travel with the boys to their sports activities even with his busy schedule. He truly loved sports. Whenever stopping by the house, you would see some type of sport on the TV. He was very active in his younger days and enjoyed playing basketball, softball, water & snow skiing, golf, fishing, and taking meticulous care of his lawn and gardens. He was an outspoken advocate and member of AA and was always ready and willing to help someone in need. The world will not be the same without his cheerful smile and contagious laugh.Christopher was preceded in death by his father, Lt Col Paul R. Ceman; his mother Elaine G. Ceman; his stepmother Barbara D. Ceman; and his wife Joanne Niemczyk. He is survived by his brothers George R. Ceman and Richard F. Ceman; his 6 sons: Sean, Damien, Gabriel, Tony, Zach, and Chris Jr. and five grandchildren: Baylen, Eleanor, Gianna, Willow and Charley.A family funeral service was held on Saturday, September 19, 2020 in Hugo, MN. (video recording available to view on this obituary page). There will also be a Celebration of Life on October 3rd in Phillipsburg, Kansas.
