Cody Pope, a beloved father, brother, son, and partner, tragically passed away on July 12, 2024, while heroically saving his children on the Mississippi River.
He was an extraordinarily talented carpenter and framer who loved the outdoors and being out on the water with friends and family. His act of courage and selflessness in his final moments are a testament to the deep love he had for his family.
Cody is mourned by his son Calvin, who will carry forward his father's legacy of bravery and “sharing the love”. He is also lovingly remembered by his devoted parents, Jeffrey and Debora; his brother Jesse; sister-in-law Shannon; niece Hailey; his partner Cheryl and her daughter Rowan; who all witnessed the strength of his character throughout his life.
Cody's memory will be cherished and kept alive through the stories and memories shared by those who knew him best. His spirit, characterized by his boldness and compassion, will continue to inspire and influence all who knew him.
Cody is preceded in death by his grandparents, Calvin and Rowena Pope & Jean and Ivan Ludeman; son, Keith Jeffrey Pope; and his cousin Leah Mergens, who were undoubtedly waiting for him at the gates to welcome him home.
