Age 64 of Minneapolis, went to be with Jesus on November 7, 2019. Debbie Thomas, a straight-laced daughter of an Iron Range miner, made an unlikely choice when 43 years ago, she married a free-wheeling, born-again hippie from Detroit.
Debbie believed God’s promise that her sins were forgiven because of the death and resurrection of her Lord Jesus Christ, and she forged a close, enviable marriage with Clark that was grounded in a love for God’s word. In spite of a lifelong illness that brought suffering and increased limitations, she provided daily encouragement to her husband about their need to trust God more.
Debbie was in whole-hearted agreement with the writer of Psalm 119 that God’s word is beautiful, true, and trustworthy. Like her biblical namesake, Debbie fearlessly challenged everyone she met to believe God’s word.
In the hours before she died, Debbie and Clark repeated a pattern of their marriage: They laughed and prayed, read the Scriptures, and sang hymns together. Preceded in death by parents, Reino and Lillian Anderson. Survived by loving husband of 43 years, Clark; brothers, Paul (Janis) Anderson, Duane (Jackie) Anderson; sister, Carol (Gary) McLean; nieces and nephews, Caleb, Ethan, Ian, Kyle, Lucas, Hope, Karl, Amy, Daniel, Nathan, Andrew, Garrett, Annie, Laura, James, Emily and their spouses and children.
