Emblem

"Dennis the Janitor"

Age 81, of Roseville.

Survived by loving wife of 59 years, Janet.  Children Pam (Andy) Brokaw, Mike (Karen), Patty (Tom) Sagert.  Grandchildren Katie, Brooke, Michelle, and Cody.  Great Grandchildren Emma, Ava, Dawson, Granger.

After graduating from Villard High School, Dennis joined the Air Force where he served honorably for four years.

Following his discharge from the Air Force, Dennis returned home and worked on the family farm.  He met the love of his life, Janet at a barn dance and after an adventure filled courtship, they were married.

Dennis and Janet moved to the Twin Cities, and after a few years of working at the Ford Plant, Dennis decided to start his own cleaning business.  It was hard work, and had many long nights, but Dennis loved it.  Dennis expanded into the carpet cleaning arena, and as they say, the rest is history.

Dennis will always be remembered for his love of family, friends, a strong work ethic, and having fun.  If something needed to be done, Dennis would be the first one to ask “what can I do to help”.    Dennis loved to see others succeed, and thrived by helping others to be their best.  His face beamed with joy as he mentored other folks in the cleaning industry.  Before the start of his workday, Dennis could be found at the lunch counter at Snyders in Har Mar or Byerlys in Roseville, participating in laughter filled conversations, a cup of coffee, and doing the newspaper’s daily word find puzzle.

Dennis and Janet enjoyed their trips to carpet cleaning conventions that were held across the country, and those trips always included stopping to find the best pie and checking out the quilt shops.  On holidays, Dennis would start his day at the Dorothy Day Center, helping to make dinner.  He was well known for his gravy making skills.

After retiring, Janet and Dennis moved back to Glenwood, where Dennis enjoyed his garden and his John Deere tractor during the summer, and the warmth and sunshine of Queen Creek, Arizona during the winter.  As Alzheimers progressed, Dennis resided in a memory care facility that could provide specialized care.

Dennis passed away peacefully surrounded by his family, and we would like to thank everyone who took the time to visit Dennis, and kept him in their thoughts and prayers.  The Nemmers family would like to thank the caregivers from St. Croix Hospice, the Minneapolis VA, Dr. Atchinson, George, and all the other individuals who showed compassion and kindness to Dennis and our family.
