Dorothy Marie Hollister (nee Heifort) was born on December 18, 1942 to Alice (Trosdahl) & George Heifort in Stillwater, Minnesota. She was baptized and confirmed at Nidaros Lutheran Church. She attended public school at Clitherall, Vining and graduated from Henning High School in 1960. Following her education, she worked at Wastweet store as a clerk and later met and married Kenneth Hollister. They were wed on March 17, 1962 at the Nidaros Lutheran Church. They purchased a home in Fridley in the early 1960s and after spending a number of years at home with her two children, she began working at Control Data in Fridley and then at Seagate in Bloomington. She enjoyed traveling by motorcycle with Ken to the southwest and to Glacier area in Canada; to Barbados while employed for Control Data; Penang, Malaysia while employed for Seagate and to Italy to visit Janet while she was stationed there while in the Navy. Before and after her retirement, she enjoyed many activities such as sewing, collecting & repairing clocks and lamps; furniture re-upholstery and refinishing. She also traveled to Waco, Texas and Oklahoma City, Oklahoma to visit Janet and family. She took great pride in the care of her lawn, plants, and gardens. She owned a lake cabin on West Battle Lake for a few years and enjoyed her time at the lake very much. She is preceded in death by her husband, parents, brothers; Russell, John and Gary and nephews Joshua and Phillip.Dorothy is survived by her son Kenneth Hollister (Deon) from Las Vegas, Nevada; daughter Janet Walker of Minneapolis, Minnesota; granddaughters Tiffany Carberry (Seth) and Taylyn Walker and great- grandchildren Jackson and Brooklyn of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Two sisters; Mary (Dennis) Underhill of Vining and Liz (Bob) Borchardt of Circle Pines. Three brothers; George Heifort of Clitherall, Joe (Vonnie) Heifort and Steve (Dot) Heifort both of Henning along with many nieces and nephews.Dorothy died December 31, 2017 at Northridge Memory Care Center in New Hope under the care of Hospice at the age of 75 years. She had enjoyed a special 75th birthday celebration with her son and daughter on December 18th.A Celebration of Life service will be held at Nidaros Lutheran Church in Clitherall, Minnesota on May 19 at 2 p.m. with Rev. Chantell Lankford officiating. Visitation 1 hour prior to the service. A luncheon will be served in the church basement following the service. The family requests that all memorials be directed to the Alzheimer's Association Minnesota-North Dakota Chapter (alz.org) and Nidaros Lutheran Church, Clitherall, MN.
