Earl R. Printz

Age 88, of Inver Grove Heights, Minnesota.  Passed away March 18, 2020 at his home surrounded by close family.  Earl was born in a farmhouse in the Swedish community of Enfield, Minnesota on November 20, 1931, to Meta (Wiese) and Arthur Printz. He graduated from Saint Cloud Technical High School in June 1958.  Earl was drafted into the Army during the Korean War on July 11, 1952 rising to the office of Sergeant E-6, in the 63rd Field Artillery Battalion, 24th Division, serving two years.  On September 15, 1956 he married his wife of 63 years, Karen Lavander of St. Paul.  In 1963 he graduated from Northwestern Television and Electronics Institute. In 1985 he graduated from Metropolitan State University with a Bachelor of Arts degree.  He spent most of his career at Unisys/Univac/Sperry working in quality assurance for various military projects.  He enjoyed reading about history, space, electronics, religion and American presidents. With wife Karen he spent many hours biking, camping and traveling. He especially enjoyed fellowship with friends at the Young at Heart Bible study group at his church. He was also a member of the VIP Club, a club for retirees of Unisys.  Earl was preceded in death by Wayne and Gary Printz.  Earl is survived by his sister, Karen Blom; his loving wife, Karen Printz; and their three children, Scott (Ann) Printz of Grantsburg, Wisconsin, Brian (Lola) Printz of Monument, Colorado, and Julie (Greg) Printz of St. Paul, Minnesota; five grandchildren, Bobbie and Aaron Printz, Sydney Heiskanen, Alesha and Brittney Berger; two great-grandchildren, Kai and Iida Heiskanen. Memorial Service is tentatively scheduled for 11 AM Friday, September 18 at NORTH HEIGHTS LUTHERAN CHURCH, 2701 N. Rice St., Roseville. Visitation AT THE CHURCH from 10 – 11 AM Friday 9/18. Date/time are subject to change due to the COVID-19 health concerns.  Private interment will be held at Fort Snelling National Cemetery.
