Age 99.
Born in St. Paul on April 26, 1924, Betty passed away peacefully on January 18, 2024.
She had 12 children, and is survived by nine: Jackie Ritter (Dick), Valerie Berwald, Norma O’Connor (Jerry), Arlene Halverson, Charles (Debra), Joan Hagen (Ron), John, Joe, and Marty, and special daughter-in-law, Doris.
Betty was a grandmother to 28: Wes Evans, Jenny Harper (Don), Shawn (Jana), Kyle (Ryan Solan), Jeff, Gabrielle, Adah, Kate O’Connor (Justin Neudahl), Jacob Tidwell, Karen (Kevin) Tikalsky, Kellen Halverson, Jeannie Martin (Steve), Chuck (Jenny), Travis (Lindsey), Ben, Noah, Derrick Hagen (Sonia), Jamie Hagen, Michelle Lewis (Jake), Chad Hagen (Mandy), Dana Hagen (Trent), Danielle Hagen, Dylan Hagen, Nick, Spencer Upton, Nicole Sandstrom (Max), Randy, Landon, and Alex.
Great-grandmother to 28: Michael Evans, Melissa Evans, Ricky Evans, Jerry Lindberg, DJ Harper, Jenna Harper, Wyatt, Keegan, Jillian Neudahl, Reese Neudahl, Melina Kasanowski, Makaila Martin, Annika Martin, Jesse (Emily), Santino, Roman, Jude, Miles, Dezi, Xavier Hagen, Lennon Lewis, Michelle Hagen, Charlee Hagen, Rory Hagen, and Kaiya Mitchell.
And great-great grandmother to six: Samantha Velasquez, Elizabeth Evans, Becca Christopherson, Jake Christopherson, Tommy Christopherson, and Cherylynn Lindberg.
Betty is preceded in death by parents Charles and Clara Schriever; sister, Marge Rodriguez; former husband, Donald Letendre Sr.; daughter, Mary; sons Donald Jr. (Michelle), and Stephen (Kathy); grandson, Jacob Tidwell; and best friend, Goldie Johnson.
She retired from the U.S. Post Office after approximately 20 years. After retirement she enjoyed traveling, family gatherings, reading, crocheting, bowling, playing bingo, collecting antiques especially ruby dishes, and going to garage sales. She was grateful for her church family at St. Joseph of the Lakes in Lino Lakes.
We are grateful to Joan & Ron Hagen who took her into their home and provided loving care for her the last 3 years of her life.
Mass of Christian Burial to be held at 10:30 AM Thursday, February 1 at St. Joseph’s of the Lakes Catholic Church, 171 Elm St., Lino Lakes. Visitation at the church from 9:30-10:30 AM Thursday with a Rosary service starting at 9 AM.
Interment Church of St. Peter’s Historic Cemetery, Mendota, MN.
In lieu of flowers, donations preferred in Betty Letendre’s name to Hope Chest for Breast Cancer.
