Elizabeth "Betty" Geisen

In Memory of  Elizabeth "Betty" Mary Joan St. Lawrence-Geisen​Elizabeth “Betty” Mary St. Lawrence, born November 22, 1922 in St. Paul and passed away on June 24th, 2019 in St. Paul, at the age of 96.  Betty went to Assumption Elementary Catholic School, where she met long time friend, Marcella.  She went to Washington High School and then graduated from Mechanic Arts High School in the spring of 1941.  Later, she would receive some college education.  She worked at The Glaser Bakery on Seven Corners, and she lived on Como Ave when at Washington High School.  Then they moved to a house on 157th Boal St, with her friend Marcella living just across the alley.  Betty became engaged to Bernard in 1941, but he soon was drafted into the army and became a corporal in 1941.  He had graduated from Cretin High School earlier.  Betty married Bernard Andrew Geisen after the war, remaining loyal to him through the whole war.  They got married at St. Agnes Catholic Church on August 10, 1946.  She worked at Glazer Bakery and Bridgeman’s Ice Cream Parlor in her teenage days, then worked at Bart’s shoe store, using her skills as a bookkeeper.  She also was a teacher at elementary schools, and a receptionist at the State of Minnesota for Agricultural Lab Services.  She also was a full time mom at times and a Cub Scout den mother.  She made a lot of friends in her life due to good social skills.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Bernard; mother Marie-Blanche St. Lawrence; her father, Roland “Roy” St. Lawrence; her sisters, Olive, Annette, and Juliet; brother, Herald “Harry”; longtime friends, Marcella Ferraro, Joan Glazer, Agnus Haubenhofer, Edna Bissonnette, Helen Schneider, Anne Geisen (no relation), Gracie Ferraro, Grace, Margarette Leuer, Frances Young, Marie Peltzer. She is survived by her son, Thomas B. Geisen; and her brother, Roland (Marie) St. Lawrence.  Betty suffered from many infections and cancer since 2011.  The cancer was kept under control for a long time, but took her life on Monday, June 24, 2019 at 11:30 AM.   ​Mass of Christian Burial 10:00 AM Thursday, June 27 at THE CARE CENTER AT CERENITY MARIAN, 200 Earl St., St. Paul.  Interment Calvary Cemetery.  Visitation 9-10 AM Thursday at the care center.
