Elvin “Al” Richard of Roseville, MN passed away peacefully in his own home on October 28th, 2017, at age 88. Al was born in Niagara, WI on February 27, 1929. After serving in the United States Air Force from 1951-1955, he married Jeanne Lambert of Minneapolis on June 9, 1956. Within a few years they settled in Roseville, MN where Al and Jeanne raised five boys. Al was preceded in death by his loving wife, best friend and companion of over 60 years, Jeanne (Lambert) Richard; parents, Edward and Cora (Woulf) Richard; and siblings, Stella, Agnes, Clarence, Oscar, Gladyce, Vivian and LaVerne. Al is survived by sons, Jim (Janet), Pat (Heather), Steve (Katie), David and Phil (Leslie); grandchildren, Will (Natalie), Sam (Kim), Jena (Trent), Brittany (Brandon), Tori (Ross), Beth (Zach), Casey (Jeff), Jill (Tyler), CJ, Avery, Taryn, and Bode; great-grandchildren, Harrison, Selah, Philip, Harlow, Acuff-Two, and Hayden-One; and countless other family members and friends. Al will long be remembered as a gracious, curious and optimistic father, grandfather, husband, uncle, cousin, brother and friend. Al cherished family, friends, acquaintances, strangers that did not yet know they were friends, passionate greetings, lively conversations and his Catholic faith. The Richard family appreciates all those that visited, called, wrote, cooked and prayed during these past few months since Al lost his beloved Jeanne. Mass of Christian Burial 10 AM Wednesday, November 8 at MATERNITY OF MARY CATHOLIC CHURCH, 1414 N. Dale St, St. Paul. Interment at Fort Snelling National Cemetery. Visitations on Tuesday from 4-8 PM at MUELLER-BIES FUNERAL HOME-ROSEVILLE, 2130 N. Dale St. and on Wednesday from 9-10 AM at the church. Following the burial, family, church buddies, neighbors and other friends are welcome to continue the celebration of Al and Jeanne’s lives at Stout’s Pub and Grill from 3:00-9:00 p.m. at 1611 Larpenteur Avenue West, Falcon Heights. Memorials are requested to Maternity of Mary/St. Andrew School.
