Evelyn Manderud

Evelyn Senum, known by many as “Eve" or "Blondie”, was born June 2, 1925, in Silverton Township of Pennington County, Minnesota, to George and Jennie (Holmstrom) Senum. She grew up on a farm in Thief River Falls, Minnesota and loved hunting, singing and yodeling.  

Evelyn was united in marriage to George Manderud on February 12, 1946 in Thief River Falls, and they celebrated 50 years of marriage together. George died at the age of 74 on June 8, 1996.  

Evelyn loved her family, flower gardens, and birds - especially hummingbirds and red cardinals. She adored her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Her most precious times were celebrating the holidays with her children, sons-in-law, daughter-in-law, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and nieces and nephews.  

Evelyn is survived by her six children, Judy (John) Carlson, Pine City, MN; Darlene (Dennis) Sullivan, Thief River Falls; Diane (widow of John) Scanlan, San Antonio, TX; Nancy (Brad) Solem, White Bear Lake, MN; Joy (Brian) Shipe (Neumann), White Bear Lake; and Jim (Deb) Manderud, Forest Lake, MN; sister, Lorraine Hendrickson; grandchildren, Brian (Amy) Carlson, Erik (Nichole) Carlson, Julie Carlson (Scott Donovan), Danny (Shannon) Carlson, Mark Sullivan (Ronda Sangrait), Jenny (Keith) Carlson, Ashley Sullivan, Jason (Sara) Scanlan, Brent Solem, Bill Neumann (Jessie Nelson), Eric (Merrily) Shipe, Greg Shipe, Neal Shipe (Emily Ryall), Travis Manderud (Catie Eishen), and Lindsey Manderud (Adam Hagman); great-grandchildren, Alexander Carlson, Issac & Avery Carlson, John Henry & Hudson Scanlan, Emma Carlson, Nora Manderud, Ella & Ada Carlson, and Bode & Josh Shipe; and nieces & nephews. 

She was preceded in death by her parents, George and Jennie Senum; husband, George; grandson, Joseph Neumann; son-in-law, John Scanlan; and sisters & brothers Violet, Delores, Caroline, Lawrence, Wilfred, Edward and Earl.  

Evelyn Manderud passed away at 95 years of age peacefully in her home on January 2, 2021, with her family by her side. We want to give a special thanks to Allina Health Hospice Team for the loving care and support provided to our mom and family during the last three months of her life. May her memory be Blessed.
