Fred "Buzz" Danzl

Fred “Buzz” Danzl, 81, of Circle Pines, MN, died surrounded by family on March 8, 2025.

He was born in St. Cloud, MN, to Emma (Merdan) and Ferdinand Danzl. Baptized as Alfred, a name he was known by throughout his childhood in St. Joseph, MN, Buzz graduated from St. Cloud Technical High School in 1961. He then went on to enlist in the United States Army, specializing in National Security, and was stationed at Fort George J. Mead. He and his wife, Wanda (Anderson), were married on March 16, 1963, in Cambridge, MN. After his time in the service, Buzz moved his family to Circle Pines, MN, and worked for Admiral Merchants, Glendenning Brothers, and GMW trucking companies. He then went on to establish a career with the Minnesota Department of Transportation until his retirement in 2007. 

Buzz enjoyed fishing, biking, golfing, feeding the local birds/squirrels, and drinking coffee while watching the neighborhood “happenings” from his front porch. He warmly greeted every baby he saw out in public, became an honorary "grandpa" to all of the neighborhood kids, and was an active member at the YMCA and Rookery. Most importantly, though, Buzz enjoyed spending as much time as possible with his wife, children, grandchildren, and great-grandson.

Buzz was preceded in death by his mother, Emma; father, Ferdinand; brother, Arthur; sister, Dorothy Lind; infant son; and grandson, Kyle. 

He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Wanda; children, Lynnette (Joel) Danzl-Tauer, Bob (Lori), and Teresa (Rob); grandchildren, Peter, Kiana (Tyler), Emily (John), Matt, and Natalie; and great-grandchildren, Sullivan and unborn Baby Girl Boleen (whom he lovingly referred to as “Sarah” until his final days).

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 3 PM Thursday, March 13 at St. Joseph of the Lakes Catholic Church, 171 Elm St, Lino Lakes, MN 55014. Visitation will be held from 5-8 PM Wednesday at Mueller-Bies Funeral Home-Lino Lakes, 7050 Lake Dr., Lino Lakes, MN 55014, and at the church from 2-3 PM Thursday. Interment St. Joseph’s Church Cemetery.
