Frederick "Fred" Lane Halverson passed away peacefully on March 5, 2024 at the age of 84. Born August 3, 1939 in the family cabin on Hungary Jack Lake in Grand Marais, MN.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter "Jeff" and Marjorie Halverson; sister, Kay Larson; brother, Jack Halverson; and nieces, Colleen Cichocki and Cathy Anderson.
He is survived by his wife, Marilyn; stepdaughter, Dianna (Todd) Peters; step grandson, Eddie Peters; step granddaughter, Sara (Jason) Noren; and niece, Cindy Larson.
Fred graduated from Cook County High School in Grand Marais, MN and proudly served in the U.S. Navy.
He retired from Weyerhauser Lumber Company after 42+ years.
He enjoyed hunting, walking the trails in Grand Marais, going to "Back to the 50's" car shows at the Minnesota State Fair grounds and the Minnesota Weapons Collectors shows.
After retiring, some of his adventures were going to Alaska, flying on World War II bombers (the B17 and B24), and sailing on the tall ships on Lake Superior in Duluth.
He enjoyed telling jokes with all his friends. Hours of endless laughter!
Interment at Maple Hills Cemetery in Grand Marais, MN on Friday, March 15 at 1 PM.
