Frederick Arthur Flack, age 76, died peacefully on Sunday, July 29 at Suncoast Hospice in Largo, Florida with his wife of 30 years, Veronica Jean Tagg, by his side.Fred was born on March 21, 1942 to Benjamin Patrick Flack Jr. (Pat) and Eileen Gertrude Donovan in Osage, Iowa where he also grew up and graduated from high school. Fred was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Cathy Johans. He is survived by his wife Veronica and two daughters and their spouses, Shawn and Kelly Brown, and Cynthia Dutcher-Flack and Dean Dutcher; his two granddaughters Callan and Molly Brown; his two step grandchildren Hunter and Lauren; his older brother Gary (wife Eloise), and two younger brothers, Elon (wife Jane) and Michael. Fred resided briefly in both Colorado and California before moving back to Iowa. He met his wife Veronica while living in Minneapolis and the two of them eventually moved to Seminole, Florida. Although his job in sales required him to travel, his heart was always with his family and friends at home. Fred enjoyed spending time with friends and family, volunteering, weight lifting, and making his famous Grandpa Fred’s Gourmet Salsa. Fred is remembered as a great athlete with a nickname of ‘Fearless’ and yet he was also someone to look out for the ‘little guy’ and the underdog, ready to lend a hand wherever needed whether to a friend or stranger. Fred was always ready with a joke or to raise a glass in a toast to those around him and rarely left a place without having made new friends. He was loved by all and will be greatly missed.
