Age 77, died peacefully on February 14, 2020.  Born in St. Peter, MN, Gary grew up in LeSueur, MN.  Preceded in death by his parents, Lyle and Delores; and brother, Timothy.  Survived by his son, Mark (Susan) Thompson; grandchildren, Nathan and Nina Thompson; sister, Sheryll (David) Sabin, Grayling, MI; and brother, Daniel, San Jose, CA.  Gary graduated from the University of Minnesota with a degree in Accounting. Following college Gary earned the rank of Lieutenant Commander in the US Navy serving two tours of active duty from 1965-1968, and went on to complete 20 years in the Navy Reserve. He enjoyed successful careers at International Multifoods, HB Fuller and as a small business owner.  True to his love of water, Gary spent many years sailing on Lake Superior. He loved his family, friends, traveling, golfing, and running. Always health conscience and up for a challenge he is a three- time marathon finisher.  Gary fought Alzheimer’s disease with incredible courage and strength.  A memorial service will be held at Roseville Lutheran Church,1215 W. Roselawn Ave., Roseville, at 11 AM on Saturday, February 29, with visitation one hour prior to service. Lunch to follow.  Memorials to VA Adult Day Center, 5101 Minnehaha Ave., MPLS, MN 55417.
