George C. Holdgrafer

Age 72, of St. Paul, formerly of Austin, MN, passed away peacefully on May 22, 2024.

Preceded in death by parents, Harold & Adeline (Watkins) Holdgrafer.

Survived by cousins and many friends.

George grew up in Austin, MN where he graduated from Austin High School (Class of 1969). He was a member of the Austin High debate team which won 1st Place in the State Debate Championship. Following high school, George attended the U of M where he graduated as Salutatorian (Class of 1973). 

George was a voracious reader who loved books and was a great collector of the printed word. He worked in the book bindery prior to working for various publications. His experience in the publishing and media field led George to co-found Lavender Magazine in 1995. 

George was a brilliant conversationalist and was proud of his legacy. He will be deeply missed by those who loved him.

Visitation 9:00 - 10:00 am Wednesday, May 29 at the Church of St. Frances Cabrini, 1500 Franklin Ave. SE, Minneapolis followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am.

Interment Calvary Cemetery, Austin, MN.
