On Sunday, October 30th, Gloria J. Roed (Larson), devoted wife and mother of four children, passed away unexpectedly at the age of 68.
Gloria was born on September 23, 1954 in Mankato, Minnesota. She graduated from Mankato High School with honors and later went on to earn a teaching degree in Elementary Education from Winona State University. In 1975, Gloria married her love and best friend, Steven W. Roed, of Mankato, Minnesota. They raised four children; Amy, Kevin, Sylvia and Steven.
Gloria was an exceptional caregiver for her family and friends; she is best-remembered as the familial bedrock with an energetic attitude and infectious laugh, endearing herself to all she met. She loved people, cats, reading, baseball, sewing/creating, current events and cooking, learning and exploring new places and ideas. She always seemed to know just the right thing to say and do for others in any situation. Gloria especially treasured her friends, family, congregation and God.
Deeply saddened by her sudden loss, Gloria will be greatly missed by her grieving husband, Steve; her children: Amy (husband Yuri) Selby-Pfahl, Kevin (wife Laura), Sylvia and Steven. She is also mourned by her brother, Craig Larson, her sister, Julie Strusz, as well as grandchildren: Owen Roed, Ryan and Evelyn Shelby-Pfahl, Abby and Dusty Roed. Gloria additionally leaves behind many other family members and loved ones. She was preceded in death by her parents, Donald and Elaine Larson; parents-in-law, Verland "Dusty" and Mary (nee Eberhardt) Roed; and brother, Rodney.
Visitation 4-7 PM Friday, November 4 at MUELLER-BIES FUNERAL HOME-LINO LAKES, 7050 Lake Dr. (Co Hwy 23). A Memorial Talk will be held 3:00 PM Sunday, November 13 at KINGDOM HALL OF JEHOVAH'S WITNESSES, 19025 Forest Blvd. N., Forest Lake.
