Jackie was a devoted mother and wife who loved her family very much. Although she was quiet and reserved her caring spirit was there for all to see. Jackie grew up in Malvern, Iowa and returned often throughout the years to visit family and friends. This also was where she met her husband. Chris was from Nebraska, but came to Malvern one summer with a college friend to work at their family business. We were told that he saw her walking on the street and asked who she was and if his friend would introduce him. They were married on March 29, 1953 until Chris’s passing in August 1990.
After high school Jackie attended secretarial school in Omaha, Nebraska and began working for Buffet-Falk & Co. until their first daughter was born. After moving from Omaha to North Platte, Nebraska in 1960 they moved to Roseville, Minnesota. In 1963 they built the home they raised their four children, Debby, Cindy, Sue and Bob. Jackie lived in the house for over 60 years. She enjoyed many activities and hobbies while also maintaining a beautiful home, vegetable and flower gardens, and yard. She loved to entertain family, friends and for Chris’s business gatherings with wonderful meals and decorations.
She had a great passion for playing bridge, being in as many as 7 groups at one time, one group included neighborhood friends that played together for over 50 years.
In 1970 Jackie began working for the Roseville School District, first at Edgerton Elementary and then Emmet Williams. She made many close friends during this time that continued well after her retirement in 1997. She was a member of New Life Presbyterian Church in Roseville. She enjoyed helping tie the quilts together the women made and donated to various charities.
Due to a diagnosis of dementia in 2021 she moved to Mankato, Minnesota to be closer to family. In October 2024 she moved to Birchwood Cottages Memory Care in North Mankato where she passed on December 15th.
The family would like to thank Birchwood Cottages for the wonderful care and compassion she received during her short stay.
