It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of James L Brown, age 89, of Lino Lakes, MN, who died peacefully on Sunday, December 15, 2024. He was a devoted father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend, and will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Born on January 5, 1935, Jim spent over 20 years serving in the United States Air Force, where he earned the respect and admiration of his colleagues. His dedication to his country was a source of pride throughout his life. A lifelong learner, Brown was a voracious reader and always eager to expand his knowledge, especially loving engineering and railroads. He had a deep affection for golf, often found on the course where he spent hours enjoying and perfecting the game. But perhaps his greatest joy came from spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
James Brown was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Wilja “Bonnie”, in 2012. They were married for over 60 years, during which time they created a family and a legacy that will live on for generations.
He leaves behind his loving daughter, Marie; two grandchildren, Chad and Alisha; and two great-grandchildren, Jameson and Esther, all of whom were the pride and joy of his life. He will also be missed by his extended family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Memorial Visitation will be held from 10 - 11 AM Friday, January 3 at MUELLER-BIES FUNERAL HOME-LINO LAKES, 7050 Lakes Dr. (Cty Hwy 23).
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to American Heart Association.
