James M. Strehlow

November 23, 1959 — December 28, 2020

James M. Strehlow, age 61, left this life on Dec 28, 2020 and we anticipate he is now telling stories at the pearly gates that lighten the mood of everyone around him.Jim was born in Wausau, WI to Eugene and Beverly (Fitzgerald) Strehlow, and died unexpectedly in his Roseville, MN home, much to the sorrow of his family and friends. Jim was preceded in death by his parents and will be dearly missed by his siblings: Christine Guagliardo of Glendale, AZ; Judy Strehlow of Wausau, WI; Charles (Mary) Strehlow of New Berlin, WI; Robert (Laura) Strehlow of Cambridge, WI; Margie (Mike) Wallace of Bradenton, FL., along with many nieces and nephews, cousins and friends. Strehlow family celebrations will never be the same without him.Jim was known for his wit, sense of humor, and bright red hair. He loved children (especially his nieces and nephews), dogs, and making people smile. In his free time, Jim enjoyed vegetable gardening, cooking, and DIY home remodeling. He often spent his vacations in Florida tackling repair projects on his parents’ bungalow and fishing with his brother-in-law. From an early age, Jim cherished his personal space and individuality. In his teens, Jim formed an enduring friendship with Rita Kasten and could often be found at Rita’s ceramics shop. After graduating from DC Everest High School in 1977, Jim worked alongside Rita as a department manager at Dale’s Super Value. He saved his earnings for a decade to fund his higher education, and graduated from UW Madison in 1990 with a BBA in Finance. Jim managed the Boulder Junction branch of Firstar Bank until 1995 then transitioned into real estate, working for Minnesota-based Naterra Land and later Paster Properties. Due to the pandemic, a celebration of life will be delayed until everyone can gather safely. If you would like to honor Jim’s memory and carry on his lifelong passion for charitable work, please give to a local food pantry or organization that helps children in need.
