Jean Ann (Nienaber) Seaborg

January 24, 1932 — October 1, 2024

St. Paul

Jean Ann (Nienaber) Seaborg, age 92 of St. Paul, MN, passed away peacefully with her daughters by her side on October 1, 2024.

Preceded in death by her parents, Harry and Signe Stewart; brother, Robert; first husband, Ronald Nienaber; and second husband, Ronald Seaborg.

She is survived by her brother, James Harry (Pam) Stewart; sister, Barbara Jean (Chuck) Stewart; daughters, Robin (Dean) Doying and Thea (Al) Bruley; grandsons, Jesse (Yer) Doying and Alexander (Rachel) Doying; great-grandchildren, Yohun, Carter, Ronin, Kailyn, Caden, and Connor; nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Jean spent most of her childhood growing up in Anoka, MN where she had many fond memories. During her working life she held a variety of jobs, from working at a movie theatre concession counter, secretary, home daycare provider, and as a caterer. Jean had a talent and desire to ensure that the important events in people’s lives (weddings, etc.) became special memories. Beginning in 1968, Jean and her husband Ron Nienaber owned and ran the Summit Ave Guest House and the Oxford Fair Deli in St Paul, MN. In approximately 1978, they moved to Cottage Grove, MN and continued their catering careers at the Cedarhurst Mansion.

Jean and Ron Seaborg were married in 2000. The best story ever is that Jean and Ron were in the same kindergarten class and reunited as friends when they attended Hamline University together. Together they had wonderful travel experiences and wintered in Florida where many family and friends experienced their warm and gracious hospitality.

Jean was a kind and caring person; when in her presence you were the most important person to her and had her undivided attention. She had a quick and witty sense of humor. Her passions were compiling the family genealogy (which she did for multiple families) reading, movies, and traveling. Jean was a very organized and hard worker and is well known for her list making, which she passed on to her daughters and other family members!! Family, friends, and all who knew her will miss her laugh, love, and amazing hugs.

To all those who helped to take care of her during the last several years, please know that she appreciated and valued your care and companionship, as did her family.
