Jeanne passed away on October 27 at Our Lady of Peace Home at age 90, after a long illness with heart failure.
Jeanne was born on 4-3-1931 and raised in Minneapolis. She earned an elementary education degree from St. Catherine's University, following which she taught parochial school for 24 years. She retired from the MN-Department of Human Services after 10 years in a clerical position.
Jeanne enjoyed a lifelong love of the performing arts: tap dancer with the AqauFollies, Hobby Singers, On Stage Shows and Junior/Senior Chorus at St. Luke's School, Just for Fun Singers, New Fogey Follies, Aqautennial Senior Chorus, Theater 65, and her own one-woman shows. She co-hosted "The Time of Our Lives", a cable TV show, the "Super Savers Radio Show" on KLBB, and "City Passport - the TV Show", a program on the St. Paul Neighborhood Network that featured topics of interest to seniors. She was a columnist for "Stress-Free Living" Magazine.
Jeanne holds the title of Ms. Minnesota Senior America 1998 and she served on the Pageant Board of Directors for many years. She was a partner in Como Park Productions. She operated her own business "Presence Promotions", booking other entertainers at various venues, until the time of her death. Jeanne believed strongly in the power of performing to achieve personal development.Jeanne was also a professional inspirational/motivational speaker with her business "Presence - the Ultimate Gift". The theme of her talks was that while we have life, we should live it to the fullest. She was a member of Toastmasters and the National Speakers' Association.
Her greatest passion was her Catholic faith and devotion to God. She was a member of the Cathedral of St. Paul Parish.
Jeanne was preceded in death by her parents, Roy and Myrtle, her beloved godmother, Dorothy Lundstrom, and three half-siblings, Leonard Schander, Mary Louise Thorn and Diane Davis.
She is survived by nieces and nephews, distant family, and close friends.
We will miss her gentle presence and gracious spirit.
Mass of Christian Burial 11:30 AM Thursday, November 4 at THE CATHEDRAL OF ST. PAUL, 239 Selby Ave., St. Paul. Interment following at Gethsemane Cemetery in New Hope. Visitation 3-6 PM Wednesday, November 3 at MUELLER-BIES FUNERAL HOME - ROSEVILLE, 2130 N.
