Joan M. Eng, nee Johnson, passed away peacefully on December 5th, 2023 at age 94.
She was preceded in death by husband, William; parents, Edwin and Margaret Johnson; brothers, Edwin and Maurice; and sister, Beverly Clausen.
She is survived by her children, Eva (Stephen), Steven, Rebecca, and Brenda; grandchildren, Naomi (Stephen), Ingrid, Hans (Sara) and Sigourney; great-granddaughter, Freyja; and many nieces and nephews.
Joan grew up in a small Norwegian Lutheran community in western Minnesota and was the youngest of four children born to Ed and Nellie Johnson. She graduated from the Lutheran Deaconess School of Nursing and was a dedicated nurse for over forty years, with a special focus on patient care. In 1953, Joan married William Eng and moved to Roseville, MN where they raised a family and resided for over 50 years.
Joan had many interests including a love for classical music, poetry, and correspondence. She was a prolific writer who sent letters and cards to friends, family, hospitalized and homebound persons and members of the military. Joan was also a fun-loving woman who enjoyed playing cards, walking her dogs and attending Lutefisk dinners. But most of all, she was a faithful follower of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
Memorials preferred to the Billy Graham Association, Salvation Army, or North Heights Church.
Funeral service 10:30 AM Thursday, December 14th at NORTH HEIGHTS LUTHERAN CHURCH, 2701 N. Rice St, Roseville. Interment Ft. Snelling National Cemetery. Visitation Wednesday 5-7 PM at MUELLER-BIES FUNERAL HOME-ROSEVILLE, 2130 N. Dale Street at County Rd B and at the church Thursday from 9:30-10:30 AM.
