John E. Micklo

Age 76 of Northfield, MN, passed away unexpectedly on July 22, 2023.

 

He was born May 1, 1947 to parents, John and Eugenia Micklo and grew up in Rockford, IL. He graduated East High School in 1965 and went on to receive a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering at the Milwaukee School of Engineering in 1969. He met Sharon Seifert while living and working in St. Paul, and they wed on May 12, 1973. Job transplants brought them to Greenville, SC where they had a son and daughter; then onto Yardley, PA; and finally back to Minnesota, settling in Apple Valley and Northfield.

 

John got a job with 3M Company right out of college on June 2, 1969. He devoted his intelligence and passion to the company before retiring after 35 years on June 5, 2004. John had many other hobbies outside of his career; woodworking, music, cooking, and some fabulous road trip planning abilities. Above all, he was a loving and giving Husband, Dad, Poppa, Friend and all around fun guy.

 

John was preceded in death by his parents.

 

He is survived by wife, Sharon; children, Kevin (Katie) Micklo and Heather (Jeremy) Hagel; grandchildren, Prestyn, Anabelle, Leo, Easton, and Kellan; and many beloved family and friends.
