An amazing woman, Judith Friesen, 76, of Mounds View, MN entered heaven on Tuesday, March 2, 2021, following a long battle with cancer. She passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family. She faced her cancer with courage and grace. Judy was born on February 4, 1945 in St. Paul, MN to Vernon and Margaret Heckman. She was one of six siblings. After graduation from Johnson High School she continued her education at Bethel College where she received her teaching degree. She met Larry Friesen during her college years and they married on December 27th, 1969. Judy had a servant's heart and used her talents over the years as an elementary school teacher, church secretary, and caregiver to adults with special needs. Judy loved the Lord, and her greatest desire was to honor and serve Him faithfully. She enjoyed teaching Sunday school, mentoring women in a small group, and participating in Bible Studies. Most importantly, she was a devoted wife for 51 years, caring mother to her three daughters and son-in-law, loving grandmother to her grandsons, and loyal friend to many. She was gracious, hospitable, and showed great interest in others' lives. In her spare time she enjoyed singing, sewing clothes for her daughters and in later years at White Cross. She also took pleasure in reading, studying the Word of God, gardening, attending plays and spending time with her family and grandchildren. Judy’s family wishes to thank the HealthEast Cancer Care team and AccentCare-Fairview Hospice who provided wonderful care for her throughout her entire journey with cancer. She leaves behind to cherish her memory and love, husband, Larry; their daughters, Shari, Cristin (Rene), Erin; and grandsons, Emilio and Andres; sisters, Joanne (Leroy), Jenean (Brad); her brothers, Jerrel (Diane), Joel (Sue), and Jim (Darlene); an aunt, and many cousins, nieces and nephews. A celebration of Judy’s life will be held Saturday, March 20th at 11:00 AM with visitation beginning at 10:00 AM. The memorial service will be held at Bethlehem Baptist Church, 5151 Program Ave, Mounds View, MN 55112. It will also be live streamed and can be viewed at this link, which will be active 15 minutes prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are preferred to the family and will be directed to Open Arms of Minnesota or Village Creek Bible Camp.
