Age 73, a longtime resident of the Frogtown area of St. Paul and subsequent resident of Ramsey County Care Center of Maplewood, MN, sadly passed away, after a long illness, on March 30, 2020. Kathy was born July 26, 1946 in St. Paul, the younger daughter of Joseph and Christina Fretschel.She grew up in the St. Paul area and graduated from Washington High School in 1965. She worked for Energy Manufacturing in the Lowertown area of St. Paul, and for AmeriPride.Kathy enjoyed travels with her older sister, Colleen, including trips to Europe, Canada, Hawaii and the Grand Old Opry, in Nashville, where Kathy could enjoy her country music. She also collected a wide assortment of Middleton Dolls, that she treasured, and Christmas bears and snowmen, animated and otherwise. Colleen and Kathy also sang in St. Bernard’s Catholic Church choir for many years. She is preceded in death by her parents and by her close, loving and only sister, Colleen, who died in November, 1996. She will be deeply missed by her ever faithful caregiver, her cousin, Karen, and husband, Jim Paddock, her good friend, Laura McMahon, and many cousins, other family members and friends.A memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:00 AM Monday, July 26 at MATERNITY OF MARY CATHOLIC CHURCH, 1414 N. Dale St., St. Paul. Visitation from 9 - 10 AM Monday at the church. Interment was in April 2020.
