Lawrence (“Larry”) Frisell, age 74, left us on November 26, 2022, after a short but valiant fight with cancer. Caralyn—his soulmate, and wife of 54 years—was at his side. They knew one another since singing in children’s choirs at Salem Lutheran Church in Minneapolis. In January 1966, as a senior and sophomore in high school, they began spending time together at a winter church retreat. They dated for two years while Larry worked at the United States Post Office. He attended the University of Minnesota until he received his draft notice. Before leaving for basic training in the Army Reserve, Larry asked Caralyn to marry him.Larry began working for United Parcel Service, where he remained until retirement after 34 years—from driver, to supervisor, to Industrial Engineer—meeting lifetime friends in Minnesota, Michigan, and Ohio.Over the years, Larry and Caralyn were blessed with three children and six grandsons. Larry loved fishing trips to Canada and at his cabin on Steamboat Lake, where he taught his grandsons to fish as well. It was a treat for Larry to watch his grandsons play hockey, football, basketball, and baseball. At the cabin, he enjoyed a cigar while riding his John Deere tractor, taking his dog Phoebe “for a rip” on the 4-wheeler, and spending time alone in the woods. He attended dance competitions with daughter, Melissa, hunted with son, Andy, and explored son, Tony’s art venues in California. An Alaskan cruise, the Panama Canal, and a trip to Sweden for his cousin’s wedding were some of his favorite moments in retirement. He also enjoyed the simple moments of living: morning coffee, reading the paper, and doing errands.Larry is survived by wife, Caralyn (née Lund); children, Andy (Sharon), Melissa (Jeff) O'Brien, and Tony (Brooke); grandsons, Jacob, Henry, Will, Patrick, Francis and Eliott; brother, Jim (Karen); nieces and nephews; many cousins; and brother-in-law, Donald (Margery) Lund. He was preceded in death by his parents, Don and Marge Frisell; sister Carol Johnson; in-laws, Edwin and Nettie Lund; and brother-in-law, Rodney Lund.Memorial service 11:00 AM Wednesday, December 14 at St. Timothy Lutheran Church, 1465 N.
