Laurence “Larry” Ned Carlson, born on October 17, 1938, in St. Paul, MN, passed away on August 14, 2024, in White Bear Lake, MN.
Larry graduated from Washington High School in 1956 and remained actively involved with the Alumni Fifty Plus Club. He grew up on Rice Street in St. Paul and played softball for various teams well into his 50s. Larry dedicated 41 years to the Burlington Northern & Santa Fe Railroad Company. Outside of his professional life, Larry was a devoted member of the local sports and arts communities. He was an original member of the St. Paul Pitching Clinic and was inducted into the St. Paul Softball Hall of Fame in 1988, the Minnesota State Softball Hall of Fame in 1995, and received the St. Paul Old Timers Fast Pitch Association Old Timers Award in 2002.
In his later years, Larry found joy in woodworking as a member of the White Bear Lake Senior Center Wood Carvers, affectionately known as the "9/11 Wood Carvers Club." His craftsmanship and dedication to the group brought him great satisfaction and camaraderie.
Laurence was preceded in death by his parents, Roy W. and Marjorie H. Carlson; and his son, David Carlson.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 63 years, Beverly; daughters, Sharon (Dave) Person and Nancy (Tim) Snyder; his brother, Lee Carlson; and treasured grandchildren, Benjamin, Samantha, Ashley, and Jessica who brought him joy beyond words.
A visitation to celebrate the life of Laurence “Larry” Carlson will be held from 4:00-7:00 PM Tuesday, August 27, 2024 at Mueller-Bies Funeral Home- Roseville, 2130 N. Dale Street (at County Road B).
In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred.
Larry will be remembered for his dedication to his family, his contributions to sports and woodworking, and his unwavering support of his community. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
