Lawrence John Hessburg, Jr. "Jack"

Age 95 of North Oaks, went peacefully into the arms of the Lord on October 15, 2023. 

Survived by loving wife of 72 years, Barbara; sons, Lawrence J. “John” III (Susan) and Paul (Mary); daughters, Mary Helen (Dennis) O’Hare and Ann Marie (Thomas) Moseley; Johnette Hessburg; 17 grandchildren: Jonathan (Kasi), Molly (Matt), Meghan (Thomas), Charlie (Alina), Rosie (Ross), Anne Marie (Danny), Jacob (Collette), Paul (Alexa), Hans (Kathleen), Giselle (John), Micah (Samantha), Evan (Tiffany) and AJ (Melissa), Jack, Bo, Angela (Chris), and Erin (Michael); 22 great-grandchildren: Levi, Evelyn, Penelope and Ben; Charlize, Finn, Etta and Esme; Maggie, Sam and Freddie; Kira and Sofia; Elyanna and AJ; Max, Owen and Emily; Ryan; Logan; Christian and Brandon; sister, Margi Pivonka.

Mass of Christian Burial 11:00 AM Monday, October 23 at St. Genevieve Parish Community Center, 6995 Centerville Rd., Centerville.  Visitation from 10-11 AM.  Private interment St. Odilia Prayer Garden, Shoreview.

Jack was a lover of God’s creation in nature, and he passed that on to his children.  He loved time at the family lake cabin, his beloved Sanibel Island, fishing, birding, cross-country skiing, as well as walking and biking with his fellow nature lover Barbara.  His was a rich career as a chemical engineer at Stainless and Steel Company, and over 25 years in research and development as well as management at 3M company.

Jack’s wonderful sense of humor and love of word-smithing is legendary and firmly planted in family life and lexicon. His wife, family and friends, and relationship with Jesus were everything to him.  His wisdom, wit, compassion and faithfulness will be deeply missed.  He fought the good fight, he finished the race and he kept the faith.
