Passed away peacefully on Oct. 27, 2018, at age 96.
Born in rural Iowa, raised during the depression, Larry was a WWII vet who was committed to his wife, his family, and his faith. He emphasized kindness and respect to all people, along with a love of nature and adventure. He attended St. Thomas, the University of Minnesota, and was a lifelong employee of Weyerhaeuser. Survived by children, Julia Hupperts (Gerald), Mary Rossi (Tom Surprenant), William (Nancy), Virginia St. Clair (Scott), John (Janine); brother-in-law, Dr. Calvin Strand, sixteen grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by his loving wife, Phyllis (née Strand) and daughter, Betsy.
Formerly of Ledyard, IA, Redwood Falls, Shoreview, Roseville, and Venice, FL. The past 3 years Larry lived at Presbyterian Homes / Waverly Gardens. He lived life to the fullest and joyfully treasured his family and friends. Larry enjoyed bridge, cribbage, and biking well into his 90’s. Special thanks to the staffs at Waverly Gardens, Health Partners Hospice, and to the St. Odilia Befrienders Program. Memorials preferred to St. Odilia Befrienders Program or to Waverly Gardens/Spiritual Life.Mass of Christian Burial 11 AM Saturday, December 1 at THE CHURCH OF ST. ODILIA, 3495 N.
