Leonard Dunaski was born on February 10, 1929, in St Paul, MN; the son of Anna and Victor Dunaski. Leonard attended Gordan Elementary School through 3rd grade, then St. Mark’s Catholic School and Wilson High School in St. Paul. Leonard joined the Marine Corps in 1948 and spent time in the Korean War where he earned a Purple Heart for his bravery. On August 23, 1952, Leonard was united in marriage to Grace Michaletz in St. Paul.
Leonard was a truck driver for 34 years, working for Montgomery Wards and was a member of the International Brotherhood of Teamsters. He retired June 1, 1986.
Leonard passed away peacefully on November 15, 2023 at the age of 94. Leonard was a generous, good-natured, funny guy who loved his family. He enjoyed working on cars, especially his El Caminos.
Preceded in death by his parents, Anna and Victor Dunaski; wife, Grace (née Michaletz) Dunaski; sisters, Lorraine (Allen) Hicks, Marjorie (Thomas) Wirkus, Dorothy (Alexander) Orosz, Darlene Rogstad; brother, Victor (Pauline) Dunaski; brothers-and-sisters-in-law, Ruben (Lorraine) Michaletz, Evelyn (Ruben) Kruschke, Myron (Vila) Michaletz, and Marlene Nelson; nephews, Timothy Wirkus and James Nelson; and Patricia's children, Kelly and Michael.
Survived by fiancée, Patricia Sullivan; brothers-in-law, Norman Rogstad and Raymond Nelson; many nieces and nephews; and family of Patricia.
Mass of Christian Burial 10 AM Tuesday, November 28 at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church, 2048 Hamline Ave., Roseville. Visitation 9-10 AM at the church. The service will be livestreamed on
St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church website.
Interment Fort Snelling National Cemetery.
