Age 71, of Circle Pines; passed away peacefully on October 12, 2020.Preceded in death by wife, Connie; parents, Edward & Anita; and sister, Marian Johnson.Survived by children, Michele (Durrell) Matthews, Stacia (Doug) Hallin, Tanya Kucera, Kristen Netland (Bill Thomas), Edward Kucera, and Josiah Kucera; grandchildren, Ariana, Alexis, & Abigail Matthews, Tiffany (John) Schultz, Timothy (Crystal) Hallin, and Cory & Jacob Netland; step-grandsons, Ryan & Cody Fugleberg; great-grandchildren, Oliver and FynLea; his “grand-dog”, Sheba; siblings, Leroy (Jan) Kucera, Cheryl (Larry) Rossow, and Melvin Kucera; many nieces, nephews, cousins, other family and close friends.Leslie was born in Littlefork, MN and lived in International Falls as a child before moving to Minneapolis, and eventually to Circle Pines, where he lived the last 45 years. He was a lifelong carpenter, retired from Panelcraft.He was a man of deep faith, and was known for being caring, compassionate, and giving. He enjoyed being helpful, doing countless projects for family, friends, neighbors and the community. He loved fishing, hunting, woodworking, and his cabin – “the shack” – he built near International Falls. Leslie was the soul of his family. He touched so many lives and was an inspiration, even more than he ever knew. Always a teacher, he lived his faith with humility, generosity, and unconditional love.A memorial service will be held on Saturday, October 24 at 11:00 AM at Mueller-Bies Funeral Home, 7050 Lake Drive (Co Hwy 23), Lino Lakes. Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 3-7 PM Friday and again from 10-11 AM Saturday. COVID restrictions are in effect, including required masks and a maximum building capacity of 120. A recording of the service will be posted on this page for those who may be unable to attend.In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred, which the family will use to support some of Leslie’s favorite causes, in honor of his helping, giving nature.
