Linda Ann Long, M.D., was born on June 15, 1944, in Morgantown, West Virginia. She died on November 24, Solemnity of Christ the King, after a long life dedicated to His service.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Andrew F. and Virginia Ann Long, her sister, Jean Long LaTour of Beacon, NY, and her brother, Robert C. Long of Joppa, MD.
She is survived by her brother, Andrew F. Long, PhD of Greensboro, NC.
Dr. Long graduated from West Virginia University with a B.S. in 1966, and an M.D. from the WVU School of Medicine in 1970. She completed an internship and residency in Internal Medicine at the University of Minnesota in 1973, and a Cardiology Fellowship in 1975. Then she joined the academic faculty of the U of M Medical School practicing and teaching at St. Paul Ramsey Medical Center (now Regions Hospital).
She was Co-Medical Director of Ramsey EMS from 1975 - 1995, providing medical direction to the St. Paul Fire Department, the Police Departments of Maplewood & Cottage Grove, and the White Bear Lake Fire Department paramedic programs.
She was Consecrated as a Virgin (Sponsa Christi) in Rome on June 3, 1995, the first Consecrated Virgin living in the world for the Archdiocese of St. Paul-Minneapolis.
She was a longtime parishioner of St. Agnes Catholic Church in St. Paul where she was very active. She also served many years on the Board of the Twin Cities Catholic Chorale. She was a Dame Grand Cross of the Equestrian Order of the Holy Sepulchre.
Mass of Christian Burial 11:00 am Saturday, December 7 at the Church of St. Agnes, 548 Lafond Ave., St. Paul. Visitation at the church from 10:00 - 11:00 am Saturday.
Interment Resurrection Cemetery.
Memorials may be given to the Twin Cities Catholic Chorale.
