Linda Fuerst, 64, passed away in the company of close friends on December 21st. This was unexpected and heartbreaking for her family and friends; however, we know she is now at home with her Lord and Savior, Jesus.
Linda was born on December 27, 1955 in the Midway area of St. Paul, Minnesota to Leo and Mary DuRand. Linda attended St. Agnes High School where she met many of her lifelong friends. It was at St. Agnes that she met the love of her life, Stephen Fuerst. Linda and Steve were true high school sweethearts who married on November 5, 1977. Together, throughout their fifty years of dating and marriage, they built a family and home filled with entertainment and love.
Linda cherished her career as an international flight attendant for Northwest Airlines (Delta) for over 38 years. It was during this time that she traveled and made many lifelong friends who grew to be like family. Linda and Steve frequently hosted parties and celebrations for her family and friends throughout the year(s). Anyone who knew Linda understood that she was first and foremost a dedicated mother. She treasured her four boys, Michael, Matthew, Nicholas and Lucas, and embraced every moment with them and their families. She especially loved her role as Grandma to her eight (and counting) grandchildren; they became her passion, and the precious time with them was her fuel. She was a mother to all who needed a warm meal, a comfortable place to rest, a safe ride, and a lasting conversation.
Linda had a vivacious personality and always made people around her laugh and feel alive. She made friends everywhere she went. Linda wore her heart on her sleeve and was a “helper” to her core. No matter her own needs, those always became secondary when someone needed help. Some words that best describe Linda are generous, passionate, persistent, determined, loving, caring, nurturing, and devoted.
Linda is preceded in death by her mother, Mary DuRand; father, Leo DuRand; and sister, Cheryl Leritz. She is survived by her loving and devoted husband, Stephen M. Fuerst; four sons (wife) – grandchildren, Michael (Dana) - Nico and Leo; Matthew (Calida) - Sylvan, Cogan, and Liberty; Nicholas (Kristen) – Louie and Millie; and Lucas (Nicole) - Emria; and sister and best friend, Vicki Bilder.
A celebration of life is being planned for summer of 2021 where friends and family can celebrate her full and impactful life in her beautiful backyard. Celebration details are to follow this spring.
