Marlene A. Kevelin

June 17, 1947 — October 9, 2019

Marlene Angela Kevelin, age 72, passed away at home on October 9, 2019 after battling COPD for many years. She was born June 17, 1947 in Brainerd, MN. She married John William Kevelin in June of 1968. She was preceded in death by her Mother Fern Larson, Father Edmund Larson, and biological father Richard Wallace Nelson, Grandmother Emma Muenchow, Aunt Ethel Muenchow, and cousin Bernice (Fred) Scheinbein. She only learned the identity of her birth father recently, and therefore did not meet him before his death.

Marlene was a loving person and spent many years as a foster parent before becoming a mother. She was first and foremost a mother, although she held many part time jobs throughout the years. She was a consultant for Christmas Around the World, owned her own craft business “She’s a Crafty Lady”, worked in food service, and most recently she was a pull tab lady at Blainebrook Bowl. For many years Marlene was a member of the Blaine/Johnsville Lions Club, she loved helping people in every aspect of her life. She had a kind heart, a loving hug, and a great sense of humor. She was selfless and wanted to help those in her life anyway she could. She enjoyed camping, spending time at their cabin in Pine City, attending activities of her grandkids, Folk Art painting, woodworking, and an occasional game of Cards Against Humanity. Her friends and family will forever remember the tough, incredibly honest, selfless, caring and sometimes stubborn lady that had Red Hair, and long nails.

Marlene is survived by her husband and long time caregiver, John Kevelin, brothers Doug Larson, Wally (Debbie) Larson , Dave (Anne) Nelson, Sister Sandy (Frank) Strange, Sister-in law Diane Larson . She raised five children, Jason (Tanya) Kevelin, Kristi Kevelin, Emma (Dave) Kneeland, Sarah (Aaron) Radanke, Mark (Amber) Kevelin. She absolutely adored her grandchildren: Jordan, Reese, Corissa, Molly, Megan, Ryan, Johnny and Lily. She had many nephews and nieces, and many special friends. There were many she loved and touched deeply.
