It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Martin Thomas Ammann, who departed this life on April 21, 2025.
Preceded in death by wife, Mary (Nelson) Ammann.
Survived by his children, Christine (Doug) and John (Angela); his grandchildren, Carson, Ava, Noah, Rayna, and Christopher; and countless other family and friends.
A dedicated serviceman, Tom proudly served in the U.S. Navy aboard the USS Enterprise during the Cold War, notably during the Cuban Missile Crisis. His commitment to service continued as he became a Captain for the St. Paul Fire Department, where he made a lasting impact on his community. Beyond his professional achievements, Tom was an adventurer at heart. He cherished his trips to Treasure Island, Florida, and enjoyed cruising the Caribbean. He found joy in playing shuffleboard and was happiest spending time on the golf course, creating treasured memories with his beloved wife, Mary, and their grandchildren. As a proud grandfather of five, Tom took immense pride in attending their sporting events, celebrating their achievements, and supporting their dreams. They were the center of his world and brought him endless joy. In his free time, Tom was often found in his garage, tinkering with cars, fixing anything that needed repair, or dreaming up new inventions he hoped to patent. His creativity and resourcefulness were admired by all who knew him. Tom will be missed beyond measure, leaving behind a legacy of love, service, and cherished memories.
