Maureen B. Jeffries passed away August 18, 2024.

Maureen was born on November 2, 1941 in Langdon, North Dakota. Her family moved to Cedar Rapids, Iowa where she graduated from high school. She studied music education and graduated from Duquesne University in Pittsburg, Pennsylvania. She married and then moved to the suburbs of Chicago to begin her teaching career and raise her family. She went on to complete her Masters Degree. Maureen eventually moved to Minnesota where she continued to play music and meet new friends.
Maureen had a passion for playing the piano. She spent many hours as a child practicing and loved to share her gift of music. She taught general music to elementary students for 34 years in Oak Park, IL. She often shared her favorite memories of putting on class plays and musicals, comradery with her coworkers, and the many many students that impacted her life.
Maureen found true joy and meaning in gathering people together and creating music. She loved to host sing-alongs for neighbors, friends and family. She started organizing concerts in her Oak Park apartment which continued at her senior living home in Minnesota, along with playing for church services.
Maureen had a love for conversation and genuine empathy for everyone. She made friends easily. She was a trusted confidant, attentive mother, grandmother, and sister. She and her son-in-law, Ken, enjoyed many conversations over coffee in recent years. They had a special name for their visits together, CBS (coffee and bullshit). Her music and conversations will be missed by many.
