Born in Marathon County, Wisconsin, Mavis was educated in Lutheran parochial school, Wausau High School and the University of Wisconsin. Her vocation to the work of the Wisconsin United Methodist Church equaled that of her husband, the Rev. George Anderson (d. 2011), with whom she served churches in Trempealeau, Osceola, Richland Center and Avoca, Wisconsin, and in retirement Antioch, Dacusville, and Jackson Grove, South Carolina. Her creativity, competence, kindness, and energy were a gift and a blessing to all who knew her throughout her life. She died in St. Paul, Minnesota at Lyngblomsten Retirement Community, where she and George lived for several years. She is survived by her children, Debbie Spear (David) and Steve Anderson (Mary); her brother, Earl Brandt (Shirley); her sister, Joan Fish; and six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be held at the Lyngblomsten Chapel, 1415 W. Almond Ave., St Paul, MN 55108, at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 17. Visitation to begin at the chapel one hour prior to the service. Mavis especially wanted to thank Allina Health, United Hospital and Lyngblomsten for their excellent care and kindness. Memorials may be sent to Lyngblomsten, Allina Hospice, or the charity of your choice.
