Michael R. Muellner

November 30, 1957 — August 10, 2024

After a long, brave fight with Alzheimer’s, Mike passed away peacefully on August 10th, 2024, surrounded by his devoted family.

Mike is survived by his loving wife of 40 years, Cindy Muellner; daughters, Heather (Patrick) DuFresne and Lyndsey (Eric) Peterson; granddaughters, Riley Peterson and Minerva DuFresne; mother, Carol Muellner; father, Michael Muellner; siblings, cousins, nieces, nephews, in-laws, and many friends that loved him dearly.

Mike was the guy everyone called if they ever needed anything because, if he couldn’t fix it, he knew someone who could. He loved helping people and would literally take the shirt off his back to give to any of his friends or family if they needed it.

To his family he was the world, and we leaned on him for everything. Whether you needed a vehicle fixed, had trouble with a math problem, or needed directions anywhere in the state (pre-GPS), he had you covered. If you wanted to know who the 25th POTUS was or who the singer of any classic rock band was, he knew it. Friends often said that he was one of the smartest people they had ever met with all of the useless knowledge he possessed.

Mike took a lot of pride in his family, friendships, company, and accomplishments. One of Mike's favorite places to be was the cabin in Orr on Pelican Lake. He enjoyed fishing, snowmobiling, and laughing with friends and family. He loved everything fast! He was always known as the guy that had to have the fanciest and fastest sled, truck and boat. The grin he possessed while flying past someone is a look you know brought him pure excitement, and one we will never forget.

Those closest to him knew how terrified he was of the life he would live with an early onset Alzheimer’s diagnosis in his early 50s. He fought sooo fiercely for sooo long, and many great memories were made with the time we had. We did as many bucket list trips that we could fit in while we still could. Halibut fishing in Alaska was certainly one of the most memorable experiences we will all cherish. We will miss him so incredibly much. Life without our “man o' steel man” is going to be vastly different and extremely difficult. His daughters, or “Beasts” as he called them, will be forever grateful for all of the knowledge he passed on, warm hugs given, and heartfelt “I love you”s received. We find peace knowing he is with his favorite dogs, his brother Mark, other family members and a few great friends he lost along the way. May his beautiful brain finally be at peace.

A celebration of life will be held on Saturday September 21st, 2024 at the Muellner family residence. There will be a short memorial service at 3:00pm to kick off the celebration.
