Nathalie "Nat" Atchison

Nathalie “Nat” Jeanne Atchison, passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 25, 2025 in Centerville, MN. 

She was preceded in death by husband, Bob; sons, Ron and Dan; daughter, Pam; siblings, Gerald, Merrill, Keith and Donna; and lastly, grandson, Robbie.

She is survived by sons, Craig (Pat) Atchison and Mike (Lori) Atchison; daughter, Karla Olson; and daughter-in-law, Sue Atchison. She is also survived by 10 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great grandchild as well many nieces and nephews. 

Known to the community she lived in as Mrs. Atchison, she provided her services as a teacher’s aide to North End Elementary for 25+ years. It was there she would make her imprint on the Rice Street/North End Community. She would help students who needed that extra push, students with language barriers, students with behavioral problems along with many others. She was well loved by the staff and students, and when she retired in 1995 it was a huge loss for the school. 

After retirement she got to focus on the thing that made her the happiest. Helping her kids, raise their kids, and be a grandmother, the role God had intended for her. Her house was a focal point of our family as there were always kids there. Sometimes quick visits to just say hi. Sometimes for evenings on a Saturday night when their parent’s wanted to go bowling. There was never a dull moment at Grandma’s.

She was the anchor of our family. The matriarch. She is the source of years of entertainment, whether she intended to be or not. Sometimes it was her use of the English language, saying what was on her mind, or even hopping up on the main stage at a small town bar in South Dakota. She was who she was, an original. She was a rock, a source of wisdom, stability, and unconditional love. We were so blessed to have had her. 

We are truly saddened that she is gone. It still doesn’t feel real, but we can rejoice in the fact that she is reunited with those she lost before her. Watching her lose three of her beloved children in the last few years was not easy, but we know that they were waiting for her at the gate along with the many others who she’s greatly missed over the years. It's a welcoming party that may still be going on as they are Immerman’s/Atchison’s after all.

She lived ninety-four years of life and she lived it her way. In fact her theme song in death would definitely be “I did it my way”. To put her life perspective into a few paragraphs is impossible, but we hope to do her ninety-four years justice as we celebrate her life on February 15th, 2025 from 2-5 PM at Mueller-Bies Funeral Home - Roseville, 2130 N. Dale St. at County Rd B.

She loved the color purple so we urge attendees to wear their favorite shade of the color.
