Pete Donald Nicholas Konstantinides

Age 29, passed away on September 10, 2020 of an accidental overdose after a years-long, bravely fought battle with depression and addiction. Pete is survived by his parents, Nancy and Frank, his brothers George (Jill) and Michael (Ashley), and his favorite dog Wrigley. Beyond his immediate family, he is survived by many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends who loved him dearly. He is preceded in death by his grandparents (George and Elsie Konstantinides, Donald and Arlene Nuwer) as well as by his uncles, Mark Konstantinides and Jeff Stievater. Pete will be dearly missed by all who knew him and loved him. ​Pete was never defined by his addiction or depression. For those who knew him, his zest for life, his love of family, and his curiosity about the world was welcoming to anyone who met him. He had many passions - too many to mention here. We will share a few.​Pete loved art. He loved seeing the world in different shapes, sizes, and colors. He loved ceramics, painting, and using tattoos as a way to share his story. Pete loved to fish. We will never know if it was the thrill of catching a fish or just being in the boat enjoying the scenery and people; nevertheless, he was at home when he was fishing.​Pete loved escaping to the family retreat in Silver Bay, Ontario. From the trips to Tim Hortons for another maple glaze donut, to firing up the grill on a beautiful afternoon, to the sound of the waves lapping on the sand during a walk on the beach, Pete was present in this space in a special way. Pete had a love of hockey. He was an encyclopedia of knowledge about all things hockey, had an opinion on who was the up-and-coming great, and certainly had the moves when he put on his goalie pads. He could stay up until the sun rose watching a game.​Lastly, Pete was able to interpret the feelings and needs of others in a special way. As Pete observed and gathered these emotions around him, he was able to radiate joy and love in response as a way to light up the world. This capacity inspired his endless vocation as caregiver and comforter for those he loved most.​In an effort to keep our family and friends safe during the COVID-19 pandemic, we will not be hosting a visitation for Pete. Funeral service will be held at 10:00 AM on Friday, September 18th at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church, 2048 N. Hamline Avenue, Roseville, MN. Private interment at Roselawn Cemetery to follow. In honor of Pete, the family will use memorials to support several local organizations to help those working on the path to recovery from mental health and addiction.
