Peter R. Maddeaux

August 30, 1944 — December 8, 2022

Peter Roy Maddeaux passed away on Thursday, December 8, 2022 at the age of 78. Peter was born on August 30, 1944 in Tadcaster Castle, Yorkshire, Great Britain to Constance Joan Nunn and Frederick William Maddeaux. He emigrated to the United States when he was young with his parents and brother, settling in El Paso, Texas. He graduated from the University of Texas at El Paso, where he was a proud TKE and made lifelong friends. He went on to earn his master’s degree from Trinity University before moving to Houston to begin his career as a hospital administrator for St. Luke’s Episcopal Hospital in the world-renowned Houston Medical Center. His entrepreneurial mind and skills as a creative problem solver led him into the world of consulting and he eventually found his heart and his home in Vadnais Heights, Minnesota. Peter was an avid hobbyist and tried his hand at everything from painting, sculpting, and riding Harleys to genealogy and making his own wine. His true passion, however, was singing. He was a proud long-time member of the Vocal Majority chorus. With the Vocal Majority, Peter won three gold medals, travelled and performed in England, Scotland and all across the US. He lived his barbershop dreams until the very end. He was a celebrated judge for the last number of years, and he recently worked to create a bridge between upcoming talent at the high school level in the Upper Midwest and the members of the Land O’ Lakes District of the Barbershop Harmony Society (LOL) to increase awareness and ultimately membership in the Barbershop Harmony Society. Peter was preceded in death by his parents, Constance Joan Nunn and Frederick William Maddeaux.  He is survived by his wife of 27 years, Jamie Oberski Maddeaux; his brother, Terry Maddeaux; and his children, Elizabeth Gates, Scott Maddeaux, and Ashley Sweren; as well as five grandchildren.  The family wishes to express their gratitude to his TKE brothers, the members of the Vocal Majority, the LOL District, and the members of North Heights Church for their deep and lasting friendship.  In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred to family.Memorial service 10 AM Wednesday, December 14 at NORTH HEIGHTS LUTHERAN CHURCH, 1700 West Hwy 96, Arden Hills (Door B).
