Richard A. Burgess, age 87, longtime resident of Maplewood. Passed away on October 31, 2023, at Langton Shores Transitional Care. He was born on April 6, 1936 in St. Paul to Arnold and Evelyn (Ostman) Burgess.
He met his wife of 65 years, Charlotte (Novak), at Wilson High School in St. Paul, Class of 1955. They were married in St. Paul in 1957. He began his career as a Lather, but transitioned to Carpenter, maintaining his union membership with Local 87 for 47 years. He was a Good Will Ambassador for the Union through volunteering at their food shelf. He was a car enthusiast, enjoyed traveling, loved music, and had a good sense of humor.
He is survived by his daughters, Danette Wilfahrt (Brad), of Fridley, Jennifer Burgess Watson (Todd), of Brainerd, and Jessica Huss (Steve), of Crosslake; grandchildren, Bradyn Watson (Morgan), of Duluth, Philip Huss, of Duluth, Annika (Watson) Olinyk (Blake), of Lakeland, and Cody Huss (Karli), of Crosslake; brother, Tim Burgess, of California; brother-in-law, Dick Goar, of Maplewood; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his son, Dean; his parents; his brother, Jim; a number of sisters- and brothers-in-law; and his wife, Charlotte.
Memorial Service 11:30 AM Tuesday, November 7 at MUELLER-BIES FUNERAL HOME-ROSEVILLE, 2130 N. Dale St., @ County Road B. Visitation 10:30 - 11:30 AM Tuesday. Private interment Union Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred to Second Harvest Heartland.
