Died peacefully on January 12, 2018 with his wife by his side. He was born March 11, 1921, in Wabasha, MN, to John & Mary “Elvira/Vera” McClarney Stiever. He graduated from St. Felix High School in 1939. Bob married Lucille Giblin on June 24, 1961.  Bob joined the United States Army on July 29, 1942, with the Asiatic Pacific Theatre and was honorably discharged February 20, 1946.  Bob graduated from St. Mary’s University in Winona and did graduate study at Marquette University, Milwaukee, WI, and at the University of Minnesota. He was an Economist/Accountant for the USDA-CCC and ASCS, retiring after 40 years.  Bob has many hobbies and interest over his lifetime. He enjoyed sports, baseball, football, hockey, fishing, and snowmobiling on his Polaris. Many special birthday celebrations were with his wife at the MN Twins’ spring training in Fort Meyers, FL.   Bob and his wife snowbirded in Palm Springs, CA, for several years. Wherever he went he would say before leaving “as nice as it is here, this does not compare to life on the farm” referring to his country home in the Houston County bluff country. He also like to visit neighbors and friends wherever he was living. Always an avid reader, the daily newspaper was a must up to his last day.  Travel with his wife was important to him and they especially enjoyed touring Ireland, Germany, Luxembourg, Mexico, Canada, and cruises to the Bahamas.  He is a life member of the American Legion Post 191 and VFW Post 10388, as well as a member of the Church of St. Bernard.  He is survived by his wife, Lucille.  He was preceded in death by his parents; parents-in-law, Mike & Ella Mae Giblin; brother, Francis Stiever; and sisters, Margaret Stiever and Helen Schones.  He requested no service and will be laid to rest at Fort Snelling National Cemetery on Wednesday, January 17 at 12:30 PM.
